Mighty, Minn Kota makes a mounting plate. This plate allows motor to slide forward. Bottom of plate mounts to boat. Trolling motor mounts to top. You can use your original holes for base. Had to do the same with mine. Bass pro sells the plates. They are a little over 100 bucks if I remember correctly
