Copperhead lesson: Not fishing
Found a copperhead this morning moving a bag of mulch I had in one of my flower beds. Reached down to pick up one of three bags, and there it was laying in the mulch next to the bottom bag.
Lesson: Watch where you put your hands. This thing was about 2 feet long and blended well with the mulch already in the bed.
Snakes don't normally bother me. It slowly went on its way. No harm and no bite. But made me think a bit about how well mulched flower beds can hide something.
