I left work a little early yesterday (10/19) and took my kayak out to Limestone Bay (Wheeler). I was throwing a jig at structure. Water surface temp started at about 74 and ended up around 72 at sunset. I fished 3 1/2 hours and brought home 6 keepers. Two were in the 9" range, which I usually don't keep, but I was hoping for a mess to fry and knew I probably wasn't going to load the cooler. First fish was 12" but they went downhill from there. Caught most on a 1/32oz bobby garland natural shad color in 5-8 feet of water.

I haven't hit limestone bay in a while.. my dad use to frequent it every weekend and seemed to have done pretty well. 6 keepers in that short time is still a win in my books eminart

The fishing wasn't on fire, but leaving work early and spending some time on the water was definitely a win.

They've about sucked the bottom out of Guntersville. I know that's relative to what body of water you're on in AL. Dropping Big G, 18" would be no big deal to the Coosa guys.

Yeah I stopped by guntersville dam on my way back today and fished the wall and noticed they had it down a good bit. I did catch 19 on the wall but all of them was short fish about 7-8 inches

Very slow day for my son and I today on Cotaco. One keeper. 3 shorts. All released. Last week was slow. Today was slower.

Great day with much wildlife. Enjoyed watching some white pelicans, an otter that followed us for about a half mile, and plenty of Great Blue Heron.

No one else today was having luck except the water police who was catching folks with no license and short fish. Conservation officer launched out of Sharp Ford boat ramp. Saw him issue at least three citations.

Fishing is a privilege...catching is a bonus. Enjoy each precious moment we have to experience our great outdoors!
