    Default Cotaco Creek, 16 Sep17

Had the grand pleasure of fishing with my son today who caught our big fish of the day!

Catch: Big fish was 12.5 inches that my son caught. Total catch was 8 crappie, 2 warmouth, 2 healthy bluegill, and one stripe. My one keeper crappie went 11 inches. The rest were dinks. All returned for another day.

Baits: BG. The only bait that seemed to work was chartreuse/red glitter and watermelon wine. Tried Sliders with no luck.

Water temp ranged from 69 to 72 degrees. Early there was absolutely no current. By late morning, there was a stiff current leaving the creek. Water remains stained. The creek has dropped 1-1.5 feet since last week.

Found three other fishermen (boats) on the creek. 2 said they were not catching. One group of two said they caught a limit...hmmm?

We did see a large number of Great Blue Heron today. A real treat! We also did some exploring today. Tried to reach lost bridge well south of Sharps Ford Road. Got very close, but came to one tree we could not cross today since the creek dropped a foot or so.

Today was fishing, not catching. Any day on the water is a good day. It was an awesome day with my fishing buddy!

Yeah it looks like I might have to bring my chain saw and cut that tree ,when the water goes down it will make it hard to get to my honey hole

I promise your son will remember the time you spend with him long after you're gone. Even if you don't catch a thing it's good to be together and talk about things. I would give anything to go fishing or hunting with my dad one more time. I'm glad y all caught a few and had a great time.
