Default Kayak Trip Report, Moulton New City Lake

I found some time today to make a trip to Moulton New City Lake looking for more Gills and Shellcrackers. They weren't biting well so I changed over to hunting Crappie. The basic plan was when I found brush with my fish finder I'd mark and jig single pole jig. It was deep work for me with fish 10 to 15 feet down in 20 to 30 feet of water. I returned many, many fish keeping a limit for the freezer. Best bait was a 1/16oz white Marabou jig. I returned 5 or 6 large White Crappie in the 15 inch range, remaining Crappie were Black Crappie and all around the 10 inch mark. The water was clear with visibility of about 6 to 8 feet and 81 degrees.
