I would recommend going with someone that knows what there doing. Everyone has a little different technique to do you will have to try different ways to see what works for you. I can do it all different ways and with all kinds of rod and reel combos. The easiest way for most is with a zebco . You might try that . If you willing to drive to Alabama this fall I'll teach you. The reason I say fall is it's easy then you will get hundreds of bites so you can pick up on it faster. Just shoot me a p.m. if you're interested.

Well I just got in from outside practicing my dock shooting, and I so glad I'm getting a little better at hitting the bucket. I think maybe I hit it 15 to 20% of the shots, and I'm telling yall that's a major improvement for me. I owe it all to you guys here for helping me. I'm sure not ready for the docks, bit man, I'm so happy, I was about ready to give up on this. Any way just wanted to tell yall, I'm getting a little better....Yeeeeea :crazy:

try shooting under a garage door, the bucket to me seems to much pinpoint . place jig at the first line loop above your reel and load the rod that way, always parallel with the water or ground in your case, let the rod do the work ! don't try to guide it . keep eye fixed on target. shooting at an actual dock will be much easer than a bucket, promise . docks that are really low to the water will take some time to master but you'll get there, main thing is enjoy your time on the water .

Same as lowe175,need to get with someone who knows several styles of shooting , most experienced shooters can watch and tell what the hick-up is, and give good info on what's going on in one or two casts, then it's just repetition. If you ever make it around here , I always have an open seat
