Default Kayak Trip Report, Crabtree Slough

I meet up with FlintCreek today and fished Crabtree Slough off Hwy 67 near Decatur. I release one Crappie and several small bass all caught on a small in-line spinner. Also found a few small gills, but not a lot to report. I did end up keeping 11 Shellcrackers, most coming off redworms. Slow day and very, very windy but nice to tray a new area.

I enjoyed the outing. I did not catch as many fish as Ditch but caught several gills and 1 crappie. I had a big bass on first thing in the morning but he snapped the 6 lb test line like it was nothing. All of my fish but 1 were caught on a Beetle Spin with a white Cream curly tail. The water was up so high you could run the Beetle Spin over the grass in a lot of the slough. All fish were released.

Have y'all tried any Creek spins from southern Pro? I like them a lot better than beetle spins, but they only come in 1/16. I wish they made a 1/8 version.

Damion, the seat really did help. I spent almost 6 hours fishing. In my regular kayaks I have only been able to spend a couple of hours before my back was hurting and needed to go home. I have a NuCanoe that I have only fished out of 1 time and it is really easy to change the seat set up on. So it looks like I will be playing with the seat on the NuCanoe some more and also keeping my eye out for a Native Ultimate. Warhawk I have used a small spinner that looks like the Creek Spins from Southern Pro however not sure they were Southern Pro. I actually still have a couple in one of my tackle boxes. I did like them, but do not remember where I bought them and have not seen any more lately.
