Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay

I fished the North end of Limestone Bay today from lunch till about 5PM. Good day, I kept half a limit, returning dozens of short fish. I also returned eight Crappie that were 14 inches of bigger, lots of big, fat door mats today. Best bait was a 1/16 oz Marabou jig in Chartreuse, spider rigged about 18 inches deep in three to four feet of water. The water was stained with visibility of about 12 inches, temperature was 65 when I started and had warmed to 68 by the time I left.

I can't believe all the six inch Crappie, next year is going to be great with ten inch Crappie everywhere.

What the heck are those alien looking things. . Congrats on the catch. Seems like the next couple of years should have quality fish with the bazillion dinks being caught now. Just hope there is a decent spawn or we'll feel it down the road. Last three trips for me have been more shorts than normal

Nice job Ditch. Tried my kayak out for a little while Saturday up in the Susie hole, with my back issues I could only stand to sit in it for a couple of hours. Looks like I may have to upgrade if I am going to fish out of a kayak this year.

Is the water close to full pool yet? If so, how far up in the bay can you get a regular bass boat? I've never tried to go all the way up in any of those creeks. The skinny water scared me off. I'd rather leave it to the kyackers and small boat guys than get stuck. You all need somewhere to get away from all the big boats anyway. I hear you all on the shorts. I started to get a bit frustrated but kept reminding myself the last time I was there that lots of short fish was good for the future and way better than no fish.

Wheeler is about 12 to 18 inches below full pool Sunday. The big boats should be able to make it now if brave, but some stumps are probably only 18 inches below the surface.

Coach B: If you don't have it, recommend you download the TVA Lake info app. The first two tabs (levels/guide) under any selected lake are helpful determining water level.
