Had an awesome opportunity to fish with my son this morning...whom was the fishing champion of the day. My son caught a 14" black beauty on a laydown using BG bleeding shad on a 1/24oz jig.
Water temp was 54/55 degrees. Current was slightly more than I would prefer but was certainly manageable. Water was stained from the recent rains. It was a crystal clear beautiful day.
Wasn't a numbers day, it was a father-son quality time day. We caught a 12" white crappie, about a dozen 8-10" fish, and a handful of definitely short crappie. We did get a few bluegill. None brought home today.
There was no pattern for the few fish. All were caught on BG baits I do not normally use...bleeding shad, devils grin, etc. A few honored us with taking blue thunder and blue ice. Nothing on Monkey milk, glacier, or crystal today.
Sorry, pic would not load today from the computer:-( But Max did have the opportunity to see my sons big one.
Good to see you today Max!

Fishing is a privilege...catching is a bonus. Enjoy each precious moment we have to experience our great outdoors!

Good day on the water
Good times even without the numbers.
Sounds like a great time spaceman!
Those are the days that are special!! Numbers rarely make the day, but memories with your kids are priceless. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the day.
I got to witness SpaceMan's son catching that big crappie! He was one very proud dad!
I fished with my brother and we caught about 20 with only 4 keepers, the 2 biggest fish were 1.87 an 1.82 lbs. The best bait seemed to be a 1/24 oz yellow jig head with a BGBS Live Minnow color. Fish were caught in about 4-7 ft of water. Water was slightly stained and was 53 degrees.
