    Default Forkland Tombigbee River help.

Any of you fish this part of the tombigbee river. Never fished down that way but thinking about trying it a Forkland or either up around Aliceville in a month or so. Just looking for which area would be the best and maybe which way to once you get here. Appreciate any help.

Mike, Forkland is close to my home water. It's part of Demopolis Lake. If you launch in McConnico Creek it's about 14 ft deep at best.
Very nice campground too. McConnico runs into the old river run, aka Rattle Snake Bend. It's an 11 mile loop. While McConnico is always clear to stained water, the old river run is very dingy. You can see depths of 55 ft or more in places. Out on the main river channel you have Taylors Creek. it runs about 9 ft deep. Loaded with black crappie but alittle on the small side. 7 miles down river is Spidel and Belmont. They are side by side. A lot of cypress trees and stumps. Be careful. Belmont is much larger than Taylors. I've never fished Aliceville but many people love it there. Hope this helps. Blessings!

So do you usually fish the old river run or the sloughs at Taylor Spidel and Belmont.

In January, look for blowndown trees along the old river run. Also there is less current worries. I have caught nice size white crappie in there. Usually about 12 ft deep.
