Nice work. The red ones look like the 1/32 jig heads I bought from Grizzly last week. I like the hook design.
On the 1/8 ounce jig heads. Up until a week ago, I rigged with those and caught fish spider rigging. the weight helped keep them down where I wanted.
I just recently switched to a 1/32 jig under a 20" leader with a 1/4 ounce barrel weight above a swivel. In my simple mind, I think the jig swims more life like, but the bites are harder to detect of light.
Is the sickle hooks better than he standard hooks ? Thinking about buying a mold and pouring my own also.
In my opinion yes. Started using them when Matzuo first introduced them and have never looked back. Their quality control was not that good but sharpest hook I ever used and in most cases they will be hooked right in the roof of the mouth. On complaint with the Matzuo is they have a really small Barb. When tipping with a minnow like we do around here you loose a lot of minnows because they will just slide off. Now eagle claw has recently introduced a sickle jig hook Calle the lil nasty and just introduced a straight shank Aberdean style sickle minnow hook. I now have changed completely over to them. Much sharper, larger barb and lighter wire.Quote:

Okay, so just got back to answer a few of the questions for all. Cray: that mold is awesome! Even with the double barb, it pours better than the single barb I have in 1/32 and 1/16.
The red hook is a Matzuo sickle #2 and yes, the sickle is way better than a regular hook! The bronze hook on these is a #1/0 lil nasty by eagle claw and it is a great hook as well.
Phillip: On my 1/32 mold, I took a dremmel and ground out the eye hole on the mold with a flat tip round stone (you an get a cheap stone in a set at harbor freight) to make it a little bigger and I was able to get a #2 to pour no problem. Interesting fact on that is that a 1/32 jig head with a #2 hook in it is exactly a 1/24oz jig. The 1/32 is only ground for a #4 or #6 hook from the factory. (I assume you meant a #2 hook. There is no way you'll ever get a 2/0 hook to fit, that is a bass jig sized hook) Now, I separate all my 1/32 and 1/24 oz jigs by the size hook in the jig.
