Kayak fishing interest

Since I've been on here I've been reading a lot about kayak fishing.sounds like it would be lots of fun.can y'all give me some input in advantages and disadvantages.and also a price range on a good one.id love to be able to have one by spring.

You can spend as much or as little as you want on a kayak. Right now would be a good time to buy used you might find a deal. You need a kayak that fits you, by that I mean I am 6'4" and over 250 so I need a bigger kayak than a guy 5'8" and 180....the best deal is find someone that will let paddle one before buying. This week work has me jumping but one weekend I might be able to let you try paddling mine. I suggest start out with a cheaper used one and see how you like Kayak fishing and paddling in general if you like move up to a better nicer kayak later.

Thanks man.i am 6/3 and about 240.im not crazy about getting on the water doing 70. Lol.im in to the scenery and nature side. But I do want to catch fish and it seems like y'all do a great job at that.

Reading posts by Ditchbasser and flintcreek will sure stir your interest in Yac fishing. If only I wasn't so old and broken up. I have a hard enough time sitting and staying comfortable in my bass tracker.

No doubt tony.it just sounds like something I could really get into.i love fishing and the scenery.im the type person who needs alone time and peace and quiet.i think I'd love it.

Damion Kidd, kayak fishing lets you get to a lot of water that people fishing out of boats or from the bank can't get to this is one of the advantages. No tags or decals unless you put a trolling motor on it. You don't have to have a big truck to pull it. Craigslist can be your friend...especially this time of year there will be some deals. Facebook has a North Alabama Kayak Anglers page that may be some help also. Most of the people on there are bass fishing focused. I have a Wilderness Systems Ride 135 and several people on the Kayak and small boat page on here recommended this one for a big guy. I was able to find mine used off Craigslist for about 50% of new price. You can probably get into a used kayak for $300 to $600 that would make you happy for a while and that is where I would recommend starting. Just like a bass boat you always want the newer and better model. Size and hull design can make a big difference in stability, so read up and paddle a few if you can. There is usually a meet where people bring out their kayaks and let people paddle them 1 or 2 times a year you can find about it on the Facebook page I told you about.

Well I don't use a kayak but we use a flat bottom instead to access place I can not get to in my bass boat. If you pay attention ditch basser dose very well in the summer when most people are struggling. The well get you to fish no one else can get to. It is well worth getting ether a kayak or a flat bottom. Do a little home work and see how many places you can use one. I just use the flat bottom because it is just as easy for the places I fish but I'm sure some of the places DB goes you probably don't want to take a flat bottom. Just depends on what we have available to you.
