Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay

I fished the North end of Limestone Bay this morning where Limestone Creek comes in. I kept the first 15 that would measure except for a couple slabs that I released. I also put back another dozen or so keepers and many, many short fish. Best bait was a Pink and Pearl Bobby Garland on a 1/16oz jig head, spider rigging about 12 inches off the bottom. The water holding fish was 2 to 4 feet depending on the area and 61 degrees. Not a bad morning, even found a few gills and crackers tossing a little spinner.

Sounds like a good outing. Did you spider rig? Sounds like the water coming out of the creek was cooler than it was over close to the boat ramp and out toward the river or the temp is off on my depth finder Saturday I was reading 68 degrees.

    flintcreek,

I'm basically fishing in the creek, once it starts to widen and enters Limestone Bay it shallows out to stumps field with water 12 inches or less because of the winter drawdown. The water in the creek is two to four feet with a few deep holes that are 8 to 10 foot even now. I mostly spider rigged submerged stumps.

Not my thing, but the stripe and Bass were everywhere. I lost several very large bass and caught numerous in the two pound range. The largest I got to the boat was about four, maybe four and a half pounds.

That's a nice mixed bag, and nice green trout too! I always enjoy fighting those on light tackle! Way to go
