Wink Long Lining in small lake, 30 Sep

Couldn't stand it any longer so when Slabprowler sent me a note and wanted to go I just happened to have a day I could get out with him. We wanted to try some long lining and I new of a place that would probably work out. We managed to have 32 keepers for the day. A lot of short strikes and fish that got off, but it was great to put some in the live wells. We stayed in 19-26 FOW and most of the fish seemed to be scattered above the thermal cline at 9-14 ft. Used the heaviest jigs I've ever used trolling with 1/8 oz and or two 1/16s. The fish wanted it dropping, a couple times while letting jigs out, the fish would pick it up and be on once the line got tight. So we started to use the stop and go method, troll along, kill the motor and bam they'd hit it, crank the motor back up and repeat. Water temp on this small lake was already at 74! It's about ready to start getting good, come on cool nights bring it!

Nice job, sounds like you figured it out with the stop and start method.

Nice slabs. Wish I could get out on a boat and catch me some. I hung my poles up.
