Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Creek (Mooresville Rd)

Back to Limestone Creek today, fished from daylight till about 2PM. I caught a dozen bass, a dozen catfish and about two dozen Crappie all returned except one Crappie I deep hooked. Kept half a limit of Gills and 6 or 7 nice Goggle Eye, I think their actual name is Rock Bass. Fun day again on Limestone Creek. Best bait was a 1/16oz Cutie spinner. Photo later when I clean them.

I kept the fish on ice till this morning, too hot to stand in the sun and clean them yesterday.

They don't look as good after a night in the cooler. One note, there was discussion on the forum before about the Blacknose Crappie. About 70 percent of the ones I catch in Limestone Creek are Blacknose. They're from different year classes as well with fish ranging from 6 inches to a 16 slab inch that I released yesterday.

This one swallowed my spinner. I tried to get it out clean, but he was floundering on the surface later so he went in the cooler.

Limestone creek must be the long ear sunfish capital of the world, I dont think i have ever seen so many caught every time you have gone there and they are a lot bigger than most you see. They must run the bluegill off HAHA

Saw where you had your car parked on Mooresville; you went upstream from there?

Yep, I only had to get out of my kayak a couple times and drag across a gravel bar, but there are many runs that are only a couple inches deep.

Ditch, Nobody can say you don't work hard for your fish. You should teach "Crappie Fishing North Alabama 101" for $$$!!!
