05/05/2016 Logan Martin report*
I fished from 0700 till 1130
Water temperature was 75
I started out longlining 1/16 oz curley tail grubs. I had several bites and only caught one crappie by 0900. I then followed my gps trail to the spots that I had the prior bites and I found a nice brushpile. I put up my long rods and got out my casting rods. The wind had picked up so much that I could not control the boat position. I put out a front and rear anchor. It took several attempts to get the boat within casting distance of the brush pile. It was in 12 foot of water. After I figured out exactly where to cast and how long to count down the jig, I caught 20-25 crappie. Color of the jig did not seem to matter but the jig weight sure did. I also caught a 1 pound 12 oz bass. Most of the crappie were 10 to 11 inches. A few were 9 inches and a few were 11 inch. It wound up being a great day for me. I took a few pictures and turned them all loose because I still have some in the freezer.
