    Default Neely Henry report 4/3/2016

Didn't get the boat out, but went to out to lakeshore area from the bank at my in-laws point today and caught 5 keepers casting a jig from the bank. The fish were very dark and at probably 3-4 FOW on rocks. No takers on minnows, but the jig they ate it up. Fished 30 minutes, wished I had brought the boat. O well.

I am heading down to Al. Thurs. staying in Ft. Payne. Making the trip to fish Weiss, have fished it several times and plan on fishing it most of the week but thinking about trying Neely Henry, but I have never been to the lake. Where is a good mid lake boat ramp and where should I fish. Assuming the crappie are in the coves and can catch some casting jigs to shoreline cover. Any help would be appreciated. I will post results if I get on the lake. Thank you, Angler69

A good mid lake boat ramp would be Southside Bridge on HWY 77 or Gadsden City ramp off of HWY 431. I prefer the lower end of the lake closer to the dam (there is a public ramp off of HWY 144 near the dam.) If you put in on HWY 77 in Southside you can go down river to Canoe Creek area. Should be under piers and on banks and brush in there, but I haven't gotten to that are lately. I saw some folks still long lining in the 5-10 FOW range also Sunday. Good Luck!
