Water temp in the morning was 59 degrees. Water seems a little clearer but is still stained.
I fished from daylight until about noon. I trolled 1/16 oz grubs in water 12 to 14 feet deep. Speed was .9 to 1.1 mph. I used chartreuse/black and white/red colors. I caught 11 crappie and brought home the largest 6. All were females with eggs. The eggs were very small. They don't look like they will be spawning any time soon. Biggest 3 were 1 lb 11 oz, 1 lb 9 oz, and 1 lb 8 oz. Great day on the water with very little wind. I was upriver from the Cropwell creek area.
Crappie Trooper LIKED above post
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
That's not a small egg sac !!! Looks like by next week those with eggs that big will be letting them go!!. Compliments to your post also not many trollers/long liners will put all the exact info like you did!! very informatative. Id say your crappie were staging in the 14 ft of water at about 10 ft waiting for the magic 62 degree temp !!The males might be in the 3 to 5 stuff now with eggs that far along in the females getting the nest ready!
That is a large egg sac. Sounds like you had a much better day than your Monday trip. Looks like you found the right area, depth and speed to make it a successful day
Congratulations on a good day. That fish is really close. They may be some on the banks now . My guess is that it's going to happen in the next few days.
Great post, congrats on a good day out. All my fish this week look like that too.
