    Default Transducer mounting advice

I just bought an XI5 and now find myself not being able to use the down-scan of the Elite5 Chirp without doing some crazy rigging with the transducer cable and an airline etc. Anyone use a separate pole in the water for the Down scan transducer? Or mount it in or on the hull? Does it have to be under the surface? Or can it just be suspended above the water?

Setting up for spider rigging. I added XI5, Elite5 Chirp on the bow and an HDS7 Gen2 touch with structure scan at the transom this year so I can finally see what is going on. Going to be fishing Upper Bear most of the time. At least now I will be able to find those hidden brush-piles.
