Default Newbie in Gadsden/Coosa River needing help

Hello all, I wanted to see if some of you could give me some advice to help me and my kids develop a crappie hole. We bought a house in October on the main channel of the coosa river in Gadsden. We have a large pier/boathouse in the water that has a depth of around six feet at the first pole of the pier, and the pier extends out about 26 feet with a depth of 18- 20 feet at the last pole. Can I ask for some advice on how to best create cover for Crappie along my pier poles that will allow us to fish it...I have fished for crappie before but mainly in sloughs and backwater, never in the main channel with current, and this is my first time living on the river so I have no idea how to go about this. Any help and advice is appreciated.

You can put out brush but it's going to take a lot to make it stay. Also a green dock under light will help a lot for night fishing they cost a little but are well worth the money. I would also tie Christmas trees around you poles. Hope this helps.
