Logan Martin Fri/Sat

Logan Martin was great Wed, but after not fishing Thanksgiving day, I got back out Friday and today and I just couldn't get anything going the past two days. The water temp is up several degrees since Wednesday and water is about a foot lower but I don't think that in itself is the problem. Maybe with the full moon they are feeding up at night or something but I stunk it up the past two days, only 3-4 keepers each day. The bite early both days was virtually nothing from daylight till about 10am. After the current stopped each day between 10am-11am I picked up a few here and there but nothing consistent. I tried it all, shooting jigs on deep docks, dunking minnows on docks, jigging deep brush, dangling minnows over submerged tree tops, and even spider rigged the river channel ledges for a few hours each day. Friday I felt like it was the first day of spring or something, there must have been a hundred bass fisherman running all over the lake. I swear one bass boat came in to a point about 100 yds from the dock I was fishing full throttle, dropped his trolling motor and made less than 5 casts before yanking up the trolling, and gunning it out of there full throttle again....I love bass fishing as much as the next guy but where is the fun in that kind of running and gunning?

We all have those days where the fish vanish. I think that's why we enjoy chasing Crappie so much. About the time you think you have them nailed, they school you instead.
