do green led's work?

Very new to crappie fishing. I noticed time before last that we seemed to not have as many bait fish come around the green submersible led light. The minnows seemed to gather around more of the white lights clamped onto the boat. Do the green lights work in attracting bait fish or spook them...thus less crappie?

I wish I knew the answer to that question as well. Most folks say use green or blue light as they are in the spectrum of crappie's eyes. I built my own light with 4 strips of green LEDs around a 1 by 1 inch plastic square tube and put it inside a larger clear plastic tube. It does attract minnows but I've yet to catch crappie using it. Maybe I was at the wrong spot or wrong time of year - or wrong something. I plan to use it more this year and maybe I can post a report on it sometime.

I've used all three colors green, blue and white. They all attract baitfish. The crappie are at the edges of the light where the water gets dark again. They are not in the bait ball that is swimming around your light.

I use coleman lanterns and the bait gather around really heavy and crappie are sometimes away from the light and sometimes right under it. I cant count the times they have chased my jig to the bank or boat and grabbed it at the surface. I think whatever light you have will do the job if there are baitfish around. I found several spent glow sticks hanging in the water last weekend at a popular spot in Scottsboro.

ive had very good luck with a green LED. It just has to be the right time and situation for any of those lights to work. They say the green light attracts more bacteria and plankton stuff the minnows feed on, which then attracts the crappie. I've seen thousands of minnows circle that light for hours in a huge ball and you just drop your minnow beneath the ball and the crappie will pick it up.

I've used green and white and had good luck with both but green works best for me. The white will bring in more baits but I seem too catch more fish on green lights
