Water temp effects

I have seen many thread entries mention water temps. What effect does water temp have on crappie? What are the prime temps I should lookout for and at what time of year? Thank you fellers!

cooler water means more active feeding. its like you and i we want to get outside when the weather cools off from a long hot summer. In spring its the other way around crappie seek warmer water to make there eggs ripen and they move shallow in search of warmer temps. once the water gets below 70 its on like donkey kong. in the dead of winter crappie tend to hold deep or move up creeks in search of springs and deep pools where they feed heavy on small prey. im no expert im just going on my own experience.

Water temperature just determines where to look for crappie. Yes cool is better for the most part. In the fall I start catching them shallow when the water hits the 70s are cooler. In the spring they hit the banks when the water hit 60 to 70 anything warmer and the spawn is over for blacks whites start around 70+. That said all lakes are different and different people get different results. I can only speak of my experience. Summer is different on every lake in my opinion some lakes will get really tuff when the water get warm. I spent the hottest times fishing small shallow lakes like Dicthbasser. In these places the fish can't go deep so you can still catch good numbers. I could go on and on about this topic.
