Default Gonna try to do some Night Fishing on Shoals Creek this weekend

The only light I have is a 12V floating light. I was wondering how it will do and if any of you have tried them. Its Bright White Headlight style light. I will be using jigs. What depth should I anchor up in. When I have been catching a few during they day they were holding in 20-28 FOW and caught them trolling cranks. I was thinking fishing on the flat just a tad shallower than that. The Flat is beside a main creek channel which is 40-50 Feet deep.

I like to anchor on the drop of the creek chanel. I've had better luck with the green lights. I would get some minnow to.

I used that style light before they came out with the green lights and they worked good. In my experience I did not do well with jigs at night but caught almost all my fish on minnows. I would look for a drop off with cover near by and anchor down and see what happens. Good luck and be safe out there.

Get some minnows for sure they should live longer at night use some ice to keep your bait active. The bridges should be active.

My Uncle dragged me out early today so im too tired now.. we caught a crap load of eating size blue cats. The Shad minnows are perfect throw net size now 1 1/2 - 2 inches.. I hung a huge one but he pulled the hook before I caught it. Were going back to another spot I know in the morning to get on some monsters. Live brem for bait. They average 40-60 pounds on this spot and u need some big bait to get them to bite. 1 month ago we went to that spot and caught 8 fish that weighed over 400 pounds total. He loves this spot. Hes almost 80 years old and he can still haul them in Korean War vet so that aint no surprise Name: small cat.jpg

Did you do any good fishing at night for Crappie? I have rented a house on Shoals Creek coming up in a couple weeks so I hope to get in some fishing. I have fished from north of 72 bridge back to the river in the last 10 years, but the house I have rented is on up closer to TN line. Looking forward to it, looks like I might have to do a little catfishing.

No I did not, I fished last night till midnight and had a gazillion shad around the boat and not one bite. I fished with jigs and minnows. The Catfish hole didnt produce either, It was in Early July or Late June when we went last time and found them, Im guessing they moved due to the hot water.

If your close to the Tennessee Line, get a throw net and catch creek minnows fish them with a single split shot about 2 feet above the hook. Small mouth are all over that creek right now, fish blue holes and rocks. I was just there today and caught a nice 3 pounder below goose shoals.

Thanks, from the map it looks like I am about 1/2 way between 72 and the TN line. I will be sure to hunt up the throw net and get in the boat. I am carrying over my boat but will probably throw in a kayak or 2 and maybe even tie a canoe on the boat. Thought we might go up to Iron City TN and float down a ways one day. I did a Shoal Creek search on Youtube last night and saw a guy using one on a rock wall catching minnows and then going small mouth fishing with them, also saw people kayaking and canoeing he upper end of the creek. Is the creek deep enough going toward TN to run a boat similar to a 16 x 48 Basstracker?
