Easy, because this stays full of water. The water level on the flats are five foot lower during the winter and the exposed mud flats freeze killing off the grass. I didn't find it on my trip, but there's a spring feeding into this somewhere. There should be some deeper water around it.

i went by to have a look. It looks really fishy and clear even after all this rain, was fish chasing bait at the boat ramp and the grass isnt on top yet. I may try a canoe there this weekend
