Fished Goose Pond from 3 to 6p.m only caught cat's and skipjacks and giant drums. Monkey Milk and bait fish worked great but no crappie.I went to the docks and the bait fish were staked so thick I bet you could walk on bait without getting wet lol.
I noticed a lot of action on top of the water close to docks so I had to take closer look.Giant drums were swallowing mouths full of bait , and the cats were doing the same, I have never seen this before.Maybe the bigger fish had the crappie run off?

They were like that around the dock the other morning when I headed out. It was a bad day for crappie though. I caught some but not many.

Ditch you are right, a lot of people think the fish are not there when they are not catching them. Usually they are there they are just so full of shad and not feeding at the time.

I was bass fishing once and saw tons of shad running for their lives on a private boat ramp, threw a crank bait in the shad and caught a 10 pound channel cat. Never expected that.
