BAMA you did the right thing. I guess you could have tried to have a conversation with the guy just to say hi. I really like jusanothajoe's idea of offerring the folks some fish if you've pulled a few off the place.

If i am right there is a federal laww called the waterways rights act that gives all waterways public access to the last known high water mark. Here on lake michigan condo owners complained that the lake was going to flood their condos and the wanted the goverment to do something to save their condos,so when the greatlakes receeded they wanted lawenforcment to kick off their property {beach front} but couldnt due to this act. I believe you can get a coppy thru the US CoastGuard. Dave
Also if you are within your rights and laws, film him with your cellphoe and call the law and press charges. Esspecilly if they thro rocks or shoot water at you. If i had small children or someone got hit i would not leave but force him to be arrested. we as sportsmen have rights and need to some times stick up for ourselve instead of being the passifist. yes it sucks but if it getts into the news the next person might think twice before being that moron. Like I told this guy over on Rosberry were he built his half million dollar home YOU don't own water rights. My granddad, Dad and I have fished that area for 50 plus years and we still will ,so you move on buddy.
I see it no different than when someone takes the time to build brush piles or structure just to come out and find someone already there. It is after all public waters.
I think you did the right thing. This one dock I fish , the owner usually comes out and talks to my wife and i , last time we were there he ask us not fish around his dock. This was because someone broke the light off his boat. I understood and moved on.
