Default Kayak Trip Report, Ditto area

I’ve been busy with work and haven’t gotten a line week in weeks. I got out today with Z-man and we found a few ear Ditto. Fished from 6:00AM till around noon and cleaned 27 Crappie. Could have had a limit, but tossed back several large fish for another day. Spider rigging 5 poles (broke a pole early or it would have been 6) dragging a mix of white and chartreuse marabou jigs 5 foot deep in 8 to 10 feet of water.

Not a bad day at all for 2 old men huffing and puffing - dragging 'yaks through the weeds and mud. Did I mention he ALWAYS out fishes 5 to 1. I didn't get a BITE until almost 9 am but ended up with about a half dozen. (OK - 1 old man and one middle aged guy!) See attached!Name: 20140629_104703.jpg

Nice report, what kind of yak you sportin' now DB?
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

    jimp,

I'm still fishing an Old Town Dirigo, but upgraded from a 10.6 to a 12 foot. I started getting fat and need the extra 50 pounds of capacity, LOL. I moved my fish finder and rod holders from my old rig. I bought the used 12 footer for $500.

I have a Native Ultimate 12, but haven't used it much yet. It took me years of trial and error to get my old town just they way I wanted it. I hate to start the process over again with a "new" yak. I can fish 20 foot water or 12 inches and get a limit anytime, plus I can roll this yak for a mile down a walking trail on a cart into areas that other anglers have only dreamed of reaching.

Any good looking spots for bass back there? Looks like you were in the open gravel pit, I'm thinking about hitting the swamp on the other side. Thoughts?

The swamp on the backside is 12 to 18 inches deep and completely covered in vegetation. I did put a 6 or 7 pounder back in the gravel pit two years ago. There's some nice large mouths in there.
