    Default Mobile/Tensaw Delta

Bite was a little slow today. Got off to a late start and fish were biting good right off the bat. After an hour they began to slow down to nothing. Caught these 15 before they stopped biting, then it was a little toasty being out there with little or no action. Caught them trolling on black and pink and black and blue jigs that I hand tied myself. These have been the go to colors for the last few weeks in this dingy water. The board that they are laying on is exactly 12 inches wide. Ok, where did I catch them? 2nd T, Miflin lake. Trolled in deep water, but jigs were running only about 5 ft. deep.

Nice catch, I'd be happy with a showing like that right now! Lol

Beatlespin your killin me, I worked all of last weekend and working this weekend too. Are you long lining or spider rigging? How deep was the water your fishing? I have never fished Mifflin but heard it was good. Every time I go somewhere to catch fish someone told me about I zero out.

I troll, I don't like spider rigging, but I wouldn't call it long lining either. I usually use 12 and 14 ft crappie poles and put line out about 3 ft. longer than the pole. Travel a little under 1 mph and the jigs will usually run about 5 ft. If I stay in 10 ft. of water or deeper, I very seldom hang up. If I want the jigs to run shallower, I just speed up a bit. If I troll in a shallow lake I will change from 1/16 to 1/24 jigs and they will run about 3 to 4 ft. deep. As for going to somewhere someone else says, I don't do it. If you tell me that you caught some good fish in Milfin today, I'll go tomorrow, but go to a totally different place. Not that I think you are lying, but I have caught fish in a certain lake today, go back tomorrow and not get a bite doing the same thing in the same place. Biggest problem with most fishermen is that they will usually keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. I never know where I'm going until after I leave the launch and I never know how I'll fish until I get there. I try different techniques, different depths and different jig colors until I find what works that day and I promise you, it probably won't work tomorrow. That's why I love fishing for crappie, they keep you thinking all the time.
