I thought i knew how to catch crappie i must been dreaming LOL!

Well fellas im still stumped I haven't caught no where close to a limit this spring. My ole faithful spots new spots my grand dads spots notta! I don think I could catch one if it jumped in the boat with me! LOL!!! I guess ill wait on the grass to grow and wait on the frog bite for them green carp I guess lol! Good luck to yall !!!

You aren't the only one sir. I haven't seen but two limits I caught this spring. And that was from the bank in February. I've switch too shell cracker and bluegill over a month ago. I like to no what happened if we got somebody on here or biologist, that provide some insight.

If it make you feel any better I have not caught a limit of crappie on G'ville since last spring/summer. Most everyone I know are struggling to catch maybe 4 or 5. I'm like Earl and have switched to green carp, blue gill and shell crackers too. I don't know what has happen to crappie here but they are hard to find and have not been concentrated at all. Maybe it will change by the fall.

I have found some nice fish, but not enough to put a limit in the live well.

I've been too busy to fish much and the freezer is full, but I had similar results in late winter/early spring as the last few years on Lake Wheeler. Most fish were 12 to 14 inch white Crappie. There was a reasonable amount of smaller fish mixed in to make the future years look good. The one difference I noticed is the Crappie were spawning deeper. The first two years that I fished Alabama the Crappie were in 18 to 24 inches of water during the spawn. This year I found fish spawning in 4 to 6 feet of water. Not sure what the difference was or if I just looked till I found them and they were deeper?

I hope to start chasing them in the shallows again in June and July when I have more time.

Yes, since we decided to focus on mainly one lake this spring, we have been doing really well. I haven't located many of the trophy-sized tournament-winning fish, but then again, it's hard to leave an area of 13-14" fish to go find them.
