Coosa River Crappie Club had our tournament on Neely 4/12/14. (7) fish at 9.29 lbs. won. Most folks long lined. Me and my partner came in 9th out of 16 with 7.30 bs. but took Big Fish with 1.99. Just got in from Logan with (11) 10-11" fish long lining from 5:30 till dark. Fish seemed scattered and water in front of the Civic Center was 70 F. Looks like the party is about over as none had eggs. Couldn't speak for Weiss but will have our tournament there on May 17th

Fished Neely Henry this morning with my wife from 7:00-11:30. Caught 24 crappie. Did not fish shallow. Caught fish on creek channels from 6 to 14 feet deep. All fish seemed to have spawned out. Best 7 probably weighed a little over 8 pounds. Saw water temps from 64.5-67.5.

Fished Neely Henry today by myself from 8:30-1:30 and caught 19 crappie and lost a few more before I could get them in. Water temps were 67-69 where I fished. Best crappie weighed 1.81 Left because of too much boat traffic. The jet skies have already started playing big time. When they start circling the fish just shut off. O well caught enough for a few meals and had a good time anyway.

No I did not make it to Canoe Creek. I started in Beaver Creek and fished a little off the side of the river channel on some flats. I fished Canoe Creek earlier in the year but have not made it there the last 2 trips. I guess I need to start going to Weiss now because that is where our next tournament will be held. The weather looks bad for fishing the next few days and if we get lots of rain it will mess up the water and will be even longer before the water will be good to fish again. CrappieFlopper how do you usually fish? Troll, spider rig, shoot docks, drown minnows?

Roger I troll and spider rig or shoot docks what ever I have to do to catch fish. But to answer your question I long line mostly. I am happy either way long lining or spider rigging they are my favorite ways. If this makes sense.
