    Default Rockhouse/Pumphouse on Wheeler

Went down to the river last night, 26 Apr, to see what was going on just before dark there at the pumphouse. Water was way up and only a slight bit of stained water coming in from the dewatering area. No crappie showed but the small stripe were in there just to make it interesting. I know that after the spawn, this place can be hit or miss, anyone else hit that area much after the spawn? Anybody doing any better in the morning? DB do you put your kyak in right there at the pumps or do you get in the water some place else?

Bob D, I go back two or three hundred yards to the North where the slope of the bank isn't as steep. The Crappie get in when the lake is high and it floods across into the dewatering area. The Crappie can't get past the pump later. The area where the pump dumps into the lake can be really good, but you never know. I've fished it several times and not caught a single Crappie. One afternoon I put a limit in the cooler in 10 minutes.

I used to fish at the pump house years ago as a kid. Isn't it off county line road somewhere? I don't even remember how to get back there.

Go S on Greenbrier until you get to Rock House Rd (I think?) Take a right and follow it all the way down off the pavement and along the river. You can get there off County Line and follow the river, but it takes a lot longer that way to get there.

Have not been in awhile, the water levels on Wheeler have been all over the place so I've been on the Big G more than this spot.
