Default Guntersville Report 10 April 2014

Fished South Sauty from 0630 till 1600. Water temperature varied from 58F to 63F in various places. Caught 13 fish, both black and white crappie, most were males. No real huge fish, just nice keepers. Caught them from 4 feet to 8 feet of water - treetops, open water, boat docks etc. It was a tough day with winds gusting to around 20mph. Eight (what I caught) were caught on BG monkey milk and bluegrass; my partner caught the remaining five on minnows, BG and a small white spinner bait. Had to move around a lot to get out of the wind and picked a fish here and there.

Saw (on HB depthfinder) larger groups of fish still holding to the depths of creek channels or the main South Sauty Creek. In my opinion, the fish are still holding deep and just a few are starting to move up. If we don't have any more crippling cold weather, the remainder of the spawn is going to be fast and furious.

Fished from 2:30-6:30 yesterday. Caught 4. BG bluegrass and bleeding shad. We didn't catch a single one in the same place. Same situation last week. I seem to only be able to pull 1 out of hole. In the past when I would catch 1 there would be several more in the same spot. Doesn't seem to be working that way yet. By the way, was fishing spring creek and brown creek

I fished spring creek yesterday morning from 7am til 10am. Caught one crappie. I know nothing about crappie fishing because the last two or three trips I have made was about the same. What is going on and why can't I get bit. The one fish I caught was a nice keeper 11 or 12 inch female full of eggs and back to spawn, the only reason is I did keep her was not enough to fool with cleaning them.

Fished Browns Creek south of the powerlines on Friday- 7:30am to around 11:30 - wind was tough- caught 6- all in 10 - 12 feet of water on minnows- water temp was 63 - all the fish were 12-13 inches no throw backs..... today will probably be good fishing if you can find a place to park...........
