I just got a new boat last summer and spent my time bass fishing. I really enjoy catching crappie more than anything but have a hard time unless it's the spring bank catching time. I fish Lay Lake mainly and would appreciate any tips someone would allow to get me started for this time of year. We went last Saturday just doing some jig fishing around but had no luck at all. I know nothing about trolling or drop fishing but look forward to learning about it from reading the forum. Thanks in advance.

Don't know anything about lay lake. Do folks long line there? If so you can come by my place and I'll show you how I'm set up and what I do. Might not be how the pros do it, but I catch plenty of crappie
Welcome to ya.
Welcome to the forum! Don't know anything about that lake, but if you will read and search these forums you will be catching crappie in no time.
An ungrateful man is like hog under a tree eating acorns, but never looking up to see where they come from!

Welcome chop, usually fish Mitchell or martin,,Lots good info here,,,the search feature has been great for me,super site,,,Now we need some water color to improve, figure they can't eat what they cant see,,all the creeks rolling over here east of you,,Charlie in rockford
Welcome. I have fished Lay a few times several years ago. Mostly vertical jigging and casting jigs but have spider rigged there a little. There is too much timber in the lake to long line in my opinion. If you want to minnow fish that should work good there also.
