For you guys with older boats. Is 550 a good price for a 72 25hp, Evinrude electric start with tiller handle? Its long shaft

Dont sound great, but depends on the condition of the motor.

Earlwaynetom could probably be more help than me... Sounds a little high but I know it is hard to find a good deal on a small outboard these days.

I dont have his # right now, but there is a gentleman that lives at Neal/Hartselle/Danville area that might can fix you up. He is very good on small(under40hp) OMC. Honest as they come. Look him up. If i find his # ill post it. His name is David Watson.

Small outboards today are like old pickups. If they are in good shape they get down to a certain point then just stay there. Most is going to depend on what kind of shape it's in and sure check compression. That's one of those motors if taken care of will run forever.

that sounds high, that motor should probably be about half that price...Sometimes nadaguide.com will have good estimates on how much an outboard should cost of that year model.

It seems a little like an "if you can hear it run" deal to me. It's hard to say if you'll find one cheaper though. Old outboards are getting hard to come by (at least for me!)
