Default Lily Pond Slough, Lake Wheeler

Fished with Predator 130 and Z-man this morning in Lily Pond. Fish were scattered. I kept 19 Crappie, tossed back 20 or 25 short fish. Slow day for me. I couldn’t find any concentrations of fish, they may have been more scattered because of the rain and cooler water temps. Chartreuse Bobby Garland’s on a 1/16oz jig head worked best. Most fish were caught in 18 inches of water, 10 to 12 inches down.

Lily Pond was 2 to 4 feet deep with a muddy bottom. I didn’t find any stumps or brush except in very shallow water on the banks. Interesting area though, I’ll be back when the water goes down a foot or two this fall.

Not what we had hoped for - ZERO structure or even any change in the shape of the bottom. Like Ditch said - they were there, but they were scattered - NOTHING to hold them that we found. My best of the day was a 10 incher, but a 2 ft gar provided a little excitement. The NICE part was that the sun was always behind a cloud, nice breeze so we never really fried. The access roads were HEAVEN compared to where we often go. Seems like this may be a great place to put out some structure.
