Well, they're not completely spawned out yet. Managed to keep 21 from under the causeways up around Scotsboro Friday morning. Strangest bite I've ever seen though. Fish bit until sun up and then they just shut down. Bit good during predawn darkness and for about 30 minutes of BMNT (Before Morning Nautical Twilight) until sunrise and then they shut down. First time I have successfully caught them on jigs in the dark. Had my daughter with me and she slayed em on minnows 3 feet deep. Females still had a few eggs left, almost all of the males were without milt. Only a few short fish, mostly keepers! Was great to get out after not being able to get out for the past two weeks.![]()

No, the pole thief did not show. So, I took his pole along and threw it a time or two to see if I liked it any. Will have to respool with 4lb test.:D
Hi there I.m the Phila Pa area lived in Madison Al out side of Huntsville until I went in the Army in 66 did a lot of fishing growing and now a lot in this area what size crappie do you keep up here is 9in just wondered
roach, the size limit is 9 inches here except for a few lakes like Weiss.
We have a 9" limit for all state waters here in 'Bama... to me, a 9" is a baby and I only keep a half dozen 9"ers per year to fry up whole. A decent Crappie down here is 11-12"... but some folks would keep anything with a pair of eyes and a butthole if you would let them.
Bob glad you and your daughter caught some fish.
