Can anyone tell me a good place to get an outboard worked on? We live in the Springville / Ashville area. We have a 2004 Tracker with a 60 hp Mercury. We had a sudden loss of power. After the loss of power the boat would not go over 2200 rpm at wide open throttle. Any suggestions where to go would be very appreciated.

matt I hope your powerhead has not gone bad, mine did similar to that and it cost some big bucks to fix. Good thing for warranties. I hope you get back in the game soon.

I would spend 8.99 on a bottle of sea foam fuel additive before going to the shop, add to the fuel and let it run thru a few gallons oif fuel and see what happens. it removes water and removes deposits and a whole bunch of other stuff, Advance auto parts has it on sale for 6.99, accept no substitutes, Sea Foam only!!!!!, because it does what it says. you may have other type of problem, but worth checking it out.

I have a 60 Yamaha, with oil injection system, and it did the same thing. Ended up I had a pinched oil supply line and the motor was shutting down on fail safe. Abbott Marine in Fort Payne solved the problem at a reasonable rate. Good Luck
