    Default Lake Russell

Nobody really bothers to post any details nowadays, so i thought i would post how our trip to Russell went this past saturday. First, it was VERY crowded! I found out later that a long line tournament was being held that i wasnt aware of. We only caught 15 between the two of us. However, they were some good ones!! These two broke the 2lb mark.15.5" each. All our fish were LL, with 1/16 roadrunner heads and 8lb line at .9-1.0 mph. Best colors were pink and john deere. We fished 8-20' with water temps ranging from 53 early to 56.8 in the afternoon. Not many creeks that you can LL at Russell that im aware of. We hit Pickens, Allen and Coldwater throughout the day. All of them were PACKED! Especially Allen creek. I think I will go to the Hill this saturday. Its been at least 3 years since ive fished down there. Should be getting prime.

Good job. Those are some good ones. Hopefully next trip it's not as crowded.

Nice fishing trip! Despite all of the equipment that we install on our boats, it’s nice seeing that old school techniques, such as spider rigging, long line trolling, or even pitching out a float with minnow on the end still catch fish.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

I’m guilty of buying new stuff and still fishing the old ways. Sometimes you get tired of watching them laugh at the lure and then you snag them with a reaction bite wizzing by them instead.

Heck , i have an AT1 and AT2 both installed on my bow. I can barely get a crappie to bite "scoping". I do better on bass, but for the life of me I cant catch crappie with them. Have to LL to get them consistently.
