    Default rotary vise?

I'm looking for a middle of the road rotary vise. Can you recommend one please? This is a hobby for me. I won't be selling jigs. Operation of the jaws being smooth and easy are pretty critical. Somewhere along the way I've gotten old and my finger and hand strength isn't what it used to be.
I only fish the two best days of the year, when its raining and when its not!

I recommend the Peak rotary vise. Love mine and it’s pretty popular.

I was on the fence about a Peak for years. Every time I tested one I just didn’t like. I had some Pepsi points saved up and had enough I was able to get one free at Bass Pro. Once I got I still was on the fence but the more I used the more I liked. Now I love it. If you get one I would recommend getting the brass screws, brass riser and rotary handle. The brass screws places better pressure on the rotary arm than the plastic screws that come with it. The brass riser adds additional weight and raises up the vise a little as I found it to be too short. The riser also prevents the vise arm from slipping and bottoming out which the arm will extend past the base. Only an issue if you tie a lot. Lastly the handle just makes it easier to use the rotary function. My only complaint is the adjuster nut will loosen every so many ties and you will have to retighten it. Nothing big though.

I also have a Nirvana 2 vise. It is a really nice vise that can be had for around $125 if you sign up for their email alert. It has a smoother rotary than the Peak and has more adjustments. Not as good as jaws as the Peak but are good and remind me of Renzeti. It also doesn’t have as wide or heavy as a base either. This is my vise for when I travel to camp and tie or wherever.

I have all but the brass riser for mine. I sometimes wish it was lower instead of higher though.

I use a Renzetti that has served me very well for near 15 years. I like everything about it except I’ve been too cheap to upgrade to the cam lock jaws. Good stuff.

Could just be desk height difference between the two of us.

I have a Renzetti and two Dan-vise. The Renzetti is the nicer vise of the two but I tie on all three of them. I got the Dan-vise's because I found killer deals on both of them.

I have been using my Renzetti Traveler for over 30 years and no doubt won't need another one. I know I've tied over 500,000 jigs and flies on it from #18 to 6/0 hooks.
