    Default Plated jig heads

I broke out some of my plated heads to use with the new chenilles I got earlier this week. Heads are gold, nickel and black nickel with size 6-8 hooks on 1/32 heads. I used rabbit hair for these, shimmer rabbit in black/gold or olive/gold used in some and makes a great bait, no flash needed.Name: IMG_5667.jpg

Very nice. Wish it was easy to get some of those plated heads in bulk.

I had them plated almost 15 years ago in bulk. Had over 6000 heads plated then and probably have 2000 left. Mostly in 1/64 left. Love sickle hooks and most of what I have are sickles. Seen nickel plated heads at fly shop sell for $5.99 per dozen, only aberdeen.

Yeah I’ve seen some here and there but only a few and asking a pretty penny for them.

When I first started tying in the early 90's I bought a couple sizes of the silver nickel head jigs and tied one with mallard flank, a little flash with red thread. First time I tried it fish literally tore it up catching over 100 crappie, bass and bluegill that day. Only had red thread left on it at the end of the day but still caught fish with it. Made thousands of those duck jigs since, need to make more with plated heads and start using them again. Red thread is the key. Favorite color is Fl.orange UNI-Thread that looks red but glows under UV light. Second picture, far right has a few red strands coming out the tail to simulate injured bait fish. It really works.

Not sure which chenille you are referring to but if it's the one with the red thread it's Holographic FX silver from Crazy Angler. Did some pricing on plated heads and some were selling as high as $3.79 for 3. Best price I found was Temorah selling them for $12 for 50. Good reviews on the hook sharpness so ordered 50 to try. Will be here today so will be letting everyone know if they are worth it once I get them. Could find 0 with sickle hooks. I might have a couple hundred in 1/64 or smaller to sell if anyone is interested. Can post pics if interested.
