Thread: Grumpy "older" men time ?

Sadly, these folks are all over the country. They just don’t care.

Yeah it happens here too. Almost everywhere you go has a trash can, it's just lazy to not dispose of garbage correctly. It's just they don't care and have no respect for the environment or others.

Maybe I’ll add a trash bag to my tackle list. I see it as well and it’s sad for sure.

Well since we are on grumpy old man rants. It’s like the old Song RESPECT! If you don’t have it for yourself you surely want have it for others.
Now moving on, I picked up trash out of the river Saturday while fishing. Maybe if a boat couldn’t go so fast maybe they would see it blow out! Just a thought, as my 25 just don’t seem to be able to pull that off as well.
But one thing I continue to learn as I did Saturday. It seems the bigger the boat the less respect they give.
I was sitting in a slight turn of the river Saturday when I see a boat that in my book was so big it had absolutely no business being that far up the river. Matter of a fact it was a huge deep sea fishing boat. Like you tuna fish out of as my nephew has one of those. This guy older as he was grey headed had his music blaring as if he was 14, and came plowing through not slacking up driving like he was the only boat on the water. He threw a wake so high it came over the edge of my Duracraft 15.5 foot boat. I heard him run up the river stop and started back down. I positioned my boat with the bow out toward the river and here he came plowing another huge wake wide open it seemed. I stood up in the boat waving my arms as if I needed help he shut the boat down. I asked him did he see me sitting there fishing when he came through the first time. He stated no with a bit of anger in his voice. I asked him to please do me and others a favor. If he was going to own and run a boat that big in a river like the one we were on, please scan his eyes from side to side. As I noticed when he came through the first time he only looked straight ahead. His answer, well running a boat that big he had to watch closely not to hit anything as it could be an expensive repair. I asked him how well did he know the waters. He stated he had a camp on the river so very well. I stated well you know if you head south that’s the gulf and you can run wide open out there and in most cases without endangering someone life and in most cases you don’t have to worry about hitting anything that cost a repair.
He stated he didn’t want to run it in salt water.
So, he never said man, I am sorry I didn’t see you. He never said I will try to be more mindful of my surroundings. He cranked that music back up and hammered down on his way. RESPECT!
So at 65, with bad shoulders and probably not being able to swim across a river with current even with a life vest on, if you own a really large boat or even a small boat, be respectful and slow down rather than trying to get to that next fishing spot or pleasure riding. You never know if small kids are in the water or someone who may not can even swim. Or maybe just a grumpy old man trying to catch dinner.

We have a lot of litter in Louisiana, especially along I10. I complain about it a lot. I have accused the state of not caring enough to even pick it up. Then I got to paying attention. It does get picked up regularly. But the pigs in our area litter it up within a couple days. Wish they would catch these pigs and write large fines. Crying shame. Yes bank fishing areas get littered up also. Do people just not care?

It's like that at a spot I go to sometimes, trash everywhere, but I have seen good Samaritans out picking up after the heathen

If I find a lot of litter and trash where I want to fish, I pick it up and make a note that maybe there's too many people fishing there for me!

it isn't just the river , we see folks stopped at red lights, dumping all sorts of trash out and most of them also have a car load of children that are learning the same from said 2 leggers , it is truly amazing what a huge number of 2 leggers, are just in that who cares about the environment and or anything else that does not interest them.
my all time favorite is the dirty diapers in the parking lots , that just disgusts me and makes me past mad about a mile as well , just saying
