Nice. Your fig trees look healthy and good. Mine were hit by rust pretty good. All trees have new growth now though.

The only other fig from this variety was one fig the original tree made last year. This is why I thing Stan wanted a Air Layer of the tree. It looks like I may have 2-3 of these as some were rooted cuttings from the "Fig Pop" project. I'm waiting 1 day before cutting to see if it will ripen to the stem. The humidity here is so high I was worried it would rot at the Eye before ripening the rest of the way. That is a quarter in the second photo next to the fig.

Wow, impressive. I went this morning and meet a local guy from YouTube that does figs. Bought a Honey Plum fig from him. Was given a small Texas BA-1 fig and a couple pawpaw trees. He is going to the Figapalooza next weekend near the beach. I can’t go.

Default One Crow can Eat 5 Pounds of Pecans a Month

So crows work in small flocks. They post sentries for security while raiding your crops. Another practice they do is spread out to locate food then crow 3 times to let their buddies know there is food here. This one crow has been on my place for close to two weeks. I keep running it off. Well it figured out my pecans were ready to eat and while I was in my recliner reading it was right outside in my pecan tree stealing a pecan. I ran out to run it off but it had already left. I start reading again and here it calling it's buddies to the chow hall. I went out with my pellet rifle and shooting it like a Shotgun threw up and smoked the crow in flight. Boy my chest stuck out the rest of the day.

So, I dropped it on the concrete and took a photo as it fell. My plan is to make a pattern, cut out about 20 of this shape out of plywood, paint all of them black, and lay them around my trees to fool the crows into thinking its dead Crows in my yard. So across the wings as it lays here is over 16 inches. They are big birds.

That’s definitely something to crow about.

    Default FUYU Persimmons................

My tree is LOADED. My Fuyu Persimmon is 33 years old. It is the first tree I planted on this place when I bought it. Very slow growing, very productive growing large tomato sized, sweet persimmons. There is always early ripening ones, I pick and put in the fridge for the first Fall Loaves of persimmon bread. A post will be coming shortly.

Hard to imagine the tree is as old as it is but it loads up every year with large crops of Fuyu Persimmons.

Default Juicing 5 Gallons of Black Muscadines for Jelly

I cooked 5 gallons of Black Muscadines down enough to release their juice for pressing. This press really squeezes the juice down to the last drop. Homemade cooked Muscadine Jelly is just fantastic. The cooking gives the Muscadines gives the jelly a cooked fruit taste.

I recovered over 2 gallons of juice. When the jelly making starts it will be posted in the Cooking Crappie section.

I’m still wanting a persimmon tree. I’ve been looking at them and can’t decide which I want. I have found several wild persimmons on my property but they are very young and small. I’ll be looking this spring at the blooms to try and determine the sex. I hope I have a female. I assume some critter dropped the seeds for me. They are on the edge of the woods near my garden….lol
