Sorry to hear about the stone. Also glad to know that you were up and about as soon as able to. I agree that the gills you catch are much darker… much more than what I get in my neck of the woods.

My better half got me started on the pickle juice when I started getting leg cramps. Not sure whats there, but I do know a couple swallows of the juice and the cramps disappear. great stuff

I’ve had no less than 6 people tell me that when it makes you uncomfortable to drink three warm beers and that helps to pass it. My thought is that even if it didn’t my attitude would be a might better!

Nice short trip. Only caught two bowfin in my life, both as a youngster. First one I took home because I didn't know what it was. Dad told me what it was and told me to bury it in my worm bed which I did. You don't want to lip those.

They do remind me of snakeheads. Haven't heard of any snakeheads close by but probably will get here one day. It's what invasive species do, spread out.

Was on another site today and found out the snakeheads are a lot closer than I thought. They are in Missouri further south of me. Unlike Bowfin, they are good to eat so if I ever catch one I'll try it, at least once.
