Thread: Gotta Get Into Painting Jigs

So how do you guys get great looking jigheads without paint in the eyes? With my first attempt today I held the jighead with hemostats and then heated the jighead and dipped in the fluffed paint. When I removed the hemostats the paint "tore" loose from the painted part of the eye.

You can use heat shrink tube over the eyes. You can get a big roll that will last a long time off Amazon pretty cheap.

I agree with Dave, Only I buy a small box at the parts store and reuse it over and over. It keeps the eye clean with no paint on it.

Hold the hook while you heat the jig head. Then put your hemostats on the eye before you dip it. That will also keep paint off your hemostats and get rid of your problem. Your heating up your hemostats causing the problem.

After I dip my heads I stick my half hitch tool through the hook eye. If you don't have one a sewing needle works too. I don't like using the hemostats to cover hook eye because it gets in the way when I put multiple colors on jig but for single color it works.
