Had a chance to run a few crab traps this week.

9 traps produced 75 nice crabs.

    A few jumbos too.

So this was our dinner tonight.

This was my first time setting traps, pulling traps, cleaning blue crab, and eating blue crab.

It will not be my last.

Amazing meal shared with some wonderful family.Name: IMG_20220603_102954434.jpg

Well done. I have some advice. Make sure to stay away from the commercial traps, as they will pull yours too. I ran traps around Green Cove area and did pretty good.

I like the way you handled and cleaned them. You should try steaming them with Old Bay seasoning. I think you will love it.
Maybe they will bite this one……

    Thank you.
My cousin cooked them and he uses Zatarans. I like Old Bay myself.
We set them about 100 yards from the commercial guys best we could.
    Since that's their livelyhood
    we tried to respect that.

    Thanks CJ.
Man it was some more good eating. Lots of work get the meat tho. Not like snow crabs.
But well worth the time and work.
Now I just need to get tires for my trailer and get the boat out and find where the crappie hide in the Florida heat.

What a fine haul and supper! Congratulations. It’s funny your shirt said you would rather be Crappie fishing.

Neil, you are doing good my friend I use to take my kids to the shore in NJ and we would run traps and use pull lines to get blue crabs. Fun for the kids and work for me! Zatarans and Old Bay it is all good. Great to see a post from you. I'm looking to get tires on my truck again It ain't cheap. I know trailer tires aren't cheap either. I just put four new tires on the pontoon this past year. Looking forward to your crappie reports!

And I really would rather be crappie fishing too.
The crabbing is fun, but that thump and pull down is what I like best.

Ron, I bet they had a ball crabbing. And I'm sure you did too working that meat out for them. It is alot of work, but man that sweet meat is awesome.
I can't wait to send a crappie report. Right know the only crappie reports I have are not fishing and working too much.
    Now that's truly crappie... LoL
At least I get to see you guys reports and that makes me happy for now.
