    Default Old reel

My wife has an antique store and we see Alot of worn out old reels and stuff come in our vendors bootheS. This one caught my eye. South Bend no.1000a Moreno Level Wind. Anti-Back-Lash. It worked pretty good on the shelf so I paid 10$ for it to add to my meager old reel collection\drawer. Took it in the bathroom and flooded it with dawn dish washing soap and let the water run till it clear. With no lube at all it is very smooth. Will take it apart tonight and clean and lube it properly. Will be looking for a old rod for it. The braided line is still good. Thought about setting it up to jig by the boat in deep water.

Anyone have one these? Ever use it?

Seems like that line was popular back in the 50's. The reel looks familiar too.

Nice find. A lot of the ones I see are missing the jeweled bearing caps

It is great to see some of it back in action. It certainly makes one appreciate the newer stuff. I have a tubular steel telescopic rod from around the turn of the century. It will put a workout on ya fishing with it

Fiberglass casting rods are fairly common. I fell down the rabbit hole of searching for a split bamboo spinning rod. I have one that is a project. It is enjoyable to fish with

I used to watch videos on building a bamboo fly rod. Maybe I need to revisit that...... After I get thru with the 1959 international truck, build two barn wood tables, build a butler's pantry.......etc. I just need to go fishing.
