Default Finally Found a Few Gills

Been doing a lot of fishing the last few weeks and catching boat loads of Crappie. Only a few gills though, until day. I finally came across a few and they were quite aggressive. Several swallowed nearly the entire Diawa Gekkabijn 1 gram jig head/Panfish Assassin Limetreuse Tiny Shad, 1.5 inch combo. Don't know if it was the full moon, the 80 degree temperatures today, or just the right time of year. Lots of fun, no matter the reason.

That’s a super sharp hook on the Daiwa jighead, sticks ‘‘em good. Nice gills, I stuck a bunch Crappie and White Bass this week on that glow head.

Nice colors on the first pan, and don’t you love the enthusiasm of that smallie? They always make my day!

Purty fish, the jig is almost bigger than the fingerling LM!

I think Stevie Wonder could see that jig! Good colors for the gills. Is that a smallie or spotted bass? I vote spot. Glad you found some. I had plans of looking around some more this morning but between rain and a 10 hour day at work yesterday I’m in coffee mode. It’s a good time of year for them as you’ve shown us.

Bright colors for sure. Almost seems like overkill, given the water is fairly clear right now (not much rain lately and no aquatic vegetation yet.)

I caught several of those fingerlings and had quite a few more hit the lure but not get hooked. They are super aggressive. I don't think that there are any spots in this pond but I've never actually checked (just assumed that they were largemouth). Definitely not a small mouth. I don't think there are any in the area. The nearest I know of is the James River in Richmond (40 miles or so) and further west.

I love those 4,5 inch bass! They are ferocious feeder when abundant during spawning in one of the parks I frequent often. Thanks for the pics Ffw!
