Nothing like the magic of a fly rod for anything! Pans and crappies are a special treat. I have a three weight that is perfect for the little guys! Thanks for the ride along.

Thanks for sharing. I can relate to the troubles with the wind in a canoe or Jon boat.

I have several flyrods . My favorites are short , under seven foot fiberglass rods .
My son-in-law’s dad uses an old 8’ fiberglass flyrod to roll cast crickets for bream .

Man, o, man! Fiberglass rods are a dream to roll cast. I used to have a Philipson 6/7 fiberglass rod. I've been thinking of building a new rod.

The old well made fiberglass rods can be a blast. I have a Orvis Fullflex 7 wgt from the 70s that is a dream to cast. Beautiful roll caster and paired with an old classic reel with that soft purring sound of the drag click. With that rod even a smaller pan will put a good bend in the rod.

I used to have a blast with a thrift shop fly rod, some really crude streamers tied with Christmas Tree icicles. Those little bass wore it out. I had to cut a lot of grass for that set up.
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
