So I wanted to see if I could do this pattern as a jig. I took an EagleClaw general purpose hook, straightened out the twist they put on the bend of the hook, and then had to unbend the hook to put the bead on. Then of coarse rebound the hook to hold any unsuspecting fish that eats the fly...
I used the same fibers as before except I used some 3D Mullet E P fibers on the back. Also tried using Gold metallic sharpie for the strips before combing the hairs...

Nice. But, I like the detail in the first one better. The eyes and coloring really catches my eyes.

I added some eyes here, but with the bead up front it don't look right to me. Maybe a pill head jig so the eyes can attach to the head on a flat surface. I'll try that in a bit...Name: 20220222_203334.jpg

Also the gold stripes on the side don't show as well. I'll go over them with the brown and see...

Much better with the eye, to me anyway. I think the stripes will help too. You put a lot of work into that, be proud.

If you look really close you can see the faint stripes in the body. That color just don't show really well. I need to go over them with the regular brown.

I liked the first one the best and it would work better with a jig head. The B10S Stinger hooks are excellent, I use them for my crappie spinnerbaits.

I like it fine Eric. I see it on a fly rod or clear casting float thrown into fish boiling the surface just after sunrise. Great tie, it’s going to do just fine.

Thank you Skeetbum. The clear plastic float, the kind that can be filled with water for weight, is how I planned to fish them. I have an old 5wt fiberglass fly rod, but lord knows I need to practice a lot more with it...
